Architecture in Red

Architecture in Red by Lu Peters, 2004

This ensemble explores the concept of architectural shapes as coverings for the body. The strong geometric silhouette is softened by the contrast of soft, indistinct painted shapes in the inset panels of the jacket.

Textured waffle piqué is matched with a subtly printed Marimekko fabric which has been painted with fabric paints, markers, and textile inks, then thread painted and beaded to create a new design. The architectural lines are emphasized with patterned bias binding that accent the jacket and skirt seams.
